About the University
University of Technology Sydney (UTS)
The University of Technology Sydney (UTS) was founded in its current form in 1988, but its origins date back to the 1870s with the Sydney Technical College. It was officially established from the New South Wales Institute of Technology (NSWIT), which was formed in 1969. UTS is a public research university known for its practical, hands-on approach to learning, strong industry connections, and focus on innovation.

Our mission
We improve population health by addressing health inequities in Australia and globally through leadership and excellence in collaborative learning, workforce capacity building, health systems strengthening, and authentic engagement with stakeholders and research translation.

Buildings and venues
The UTS City campus encompasses a number of buildings and venues accommodating teaching, learning, research, social and administrative activities. These maps will help students, visitors and staff find the buildings, venues and facilities they are looking for.
Three of the City campus’s precincts – Haymarket, Broadway and Blackfriars – are located at the southern gateway to Sydney’s cosmopolitan central business district (CBD), and surrounded by local attractions. The newest precincts are situated within the elite sporting zone at Moore Park and on an industrial park at Botany.
